My work experience and specializations
I have been working as a mental health psychologist in multiple settings for 15 years. Before that, I worked as a psychologist for Work & Organization for 10 years, among others at various health and safety services.
My work experience in the past, as a physical-manual therapist, can be used in the treatment of chronic pain. Both the physical and mental components receive ample attention.
My specialization is the treatment of work-related problems, such as burnout, work stress, career stagnation, etc. Due to my PhD research on the subject of burnout and the many years of collaboration with occupational health and safety services, I have extensive experience in this area.
Another area of concern is anxiety issues and the treatment of trauma with the help of EMDR. I gained a lot of experience in this regard during my teaching at ACTA to dental students. Here I gave readings on the treatment of patients who were extremely anxious and phobic for the dentist. This approach is also based on cognitive behavioral therapy.
This also applies to the treatment of depression where, in addition to CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), solution focused therapy can also be an effective approach to this problem. I also have extensive experience with other issues, such as meaning issues, loss and mourning, and addiction problems.
I have worked in the USA in various settings as a prescription medication psychologist. I am authorized to prescribe medication in the USA after completing an MSc study in “psychopharmacology”. With this knowledge and experience I can properly inform my clients about the pros and cons of medication. The doctor can, if necessary, prescribe medication and he/she always makes the final decision for this.
My approach is directive, supportive or insightful, depending on the problem. And is always determined in consultation with the client.
