Who am I?
My name is Arnoud Kas and I am 40 years old. For a good recovery I think it’s important to give the right attention, support and understanding to people. Moreover, I like to work systematically and purposefully, in a way that the conversations really lead to a change in someone’s daily life.
I find it pleasant to deepen myself in people and get to know them better. It gives me great satisfaction to see how people find their way back to a more pleasant and balanced life after a difficult period.
I have worked for more than ten years at a large mental health organization in Amsterdam. I gained a lot of experience in treating people with various problems. In 2003 I graduated in Clinical Psychology. In 2012 I obtained my registration as a GZ psychologist.
My treatments are for adults (as from 18 years old) who have various complaints, like:
Sadness and depression
Fear, panic and hyperventilation
Stress and worries
Compulsion complaints and obsessions
Burn-out and work or study problems
Physical complaints and diseases
Drastic incidents, loss and mourning
Problems in relationships and social contacts
Low self esteem
Meaning, lifecycle and personal development
My way of working
A therapy mostly consists of 5-13 meetings, depending on the wishes and problems. Extension of the treatment is of course possible. The first phase of the therapy focuses on acquaintance, clarification of the problem and the joint formulation of concrete, achievable goals. The second phase of the therapy focuses on changes in daily life, tackling problems and reducing complaints.
I use the following forms of treatment:
Cognitive behavioral therapy
This is the most common form of psychological treatment. This therapy focuses on changing patterns in our thinking, doing and letting.
Interpersonal therapy (IPT)
This is a well-known form of treatment, which focuses on the relationship between complaints and radical events in a person’s life, such as divorce, death, loss of work or health and conflicts with others.
An effective form of treatment for handling radical incidents, in which we make use of a form of distraction by, for example, eye movements.
Short-term psychodynamic therapy (affect phobia)
This is a less well-known form of treatment, which is currently very popular. In this form of treatment, the experience and expression of blocked emotions is central.
The General Data Protection Regulation (AVG) will apply as of 25 May 2018. This means that from that date onwards, the same privacy legislation applies throughout the European Union (EU). The Personal Data Protection Act (Wbp) then no longer applies. Here you will find my personal, under the name A. As of January 1, 2017 all providers of ‘medical mental health care’ (GGZ), ie generalist basic mental healthcare and specialized mental health care within the Health Insurance Act, are obliged to make a quality statute public. See here the approved status of Arnoud.
