Roadmap

Most of our clients (adults from the age of 18) are treated for mental health issues that fit within the ‘Generalistische Basis GGZ’ (Generalistic Basis Mental Health Care), also called GB-GGZ. These are mild, non-complex psychological issues, such as stress, burnout, depression, trauma, panic attacks, etc. The following steps are taken during a treatment process within the GB-GGZ.

  • 1

    Start

You think or feel you need psychological care. Call us on 020-2444872 and we are happy to guide you through the process. You can always contact Psychologen Amsterdam for non-reimbursed care! If you want to be eligible for reimbursed care, go to step 2.

  • 2

Go to your doctor for a referral

You will be referred by your doctor to the Generalistic Basic GGZ (GB-GGZ). With a referral and an appropriate diagnosis, you can be eligible for reimbursement by your health insurer.
Without referral, you are not eligible for reimbursement from the basic insurance. Reimbursement may be possible from the supplementary package (alternative medicine). See our reimbursement check for more information.

  • 3

    Telephone intake

You can contact us via the digital form on our website ‘make an appointment’ or call the practice assistant. Together with the practice assistant you schedule an appointment with one of our psychologists.

  • 4

    Intake interview psychologist

An initial conversation will take place with the psychologist at one of the locations of Psychologen Amsterdam. If the intake shows that the diagnosis of your problems is appropriate for the GB-GGZ, your treatment starts. Go to step 5.

If the intake shows that the diagnosis is specialist, we will refer you to S-GGZ.

  • 5

    Treatment plan

The psychologist will draw up a treatment plan with you as a result of the intake interview.

  • 6

Discuss treatment plan and start treatment

There is a choice of different therapeutic treatment options, such as face to face conversations, eHealth and online therapy, but also self-help programs. This combination is called ‘blended care’. In addition, an estimate is made of the number of sessions. And if possible, treatment is also started.

  • 7

    Evaluation (mid-term) and follow-up

The psychologist will (mid-term) evaluate the progress of the personalized care process that has been started with you. The process is appropriate and will be completed. If the process is no longer appropriate, a referral to the S-GGZ often will be done, of course in consultation with you and your psychologist.

  • 8

    Feedback to referrer

If you agree, at the end of your treatment process feedback will be given to the referrer (often your doctor).

  • 9

    End of treatment

You complete the GB-GGZ process and receive the final invoice for your health insurer.

See also the explanation about GB-GGZ and S-GGZ.
