Psychologist NIP and trained as a physiotherapist
In addition to being a psychologist, I graduated as a physiotherapist. Because of this combination I mainly have a practical approach and I look at people as a whole. In addition, I also go into depth and work together with you on changing old patterns and unprocessed emotions from your childhood. I apply different treatment methods and body-oriented exercises and explain the functioning of your brain.
What can I do for you?
I am involved and have a positive attitude, with the focus on finding your strengths and possibilities. From the first day on, I give you the tools to have a grip on your problems again. You also gain insight into your behavior, better contact with your emotions and you learn to recognize and adjust tension signals. Because of this you will be better able to deal with stressful situations and difficult emotions in the future. Eventually you come into your strength and you reconnect with yourself and the environment.
I now have more than 15 years of work experience in health care and I have been working as a psychologist for over 8 years. I have worked with personality issues and traumas in both a large GGZ (mental health care) institution and in smaller institutions. In recent years I have given individual therapy in collaboration with a psychiatrist, where much attention was paid to the ‘attachment relationship’. I have studied this further by taking various courses in that area, including the Basic EFT relationship therapy course.
In addition to professional knowledge, my personal experiences and cultural background play a major role in my work as a practitioner. I am living together and am a mother of two sons. My origin is half Dutch and half Chinese (Surinamese), born in Paramaribo and raised in Twente (NL). Because of this I have had to deal with different cultures and I can adapt well. I have also experienced stressful, difficult and sad periods in my life, so that I can empathize with others. I am also intuitive, passionate and involved.
Every person is unique: has its own personality, faces various difficulties and develops at its own pace. The treatment is therefore tailor-made. I look at what you need and adjust my treatment and time accordingly.
